Emmi Hadfield was born in 1988 and raised in the Madison, Wisconsin area. She moved north and attended the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities. In May 2011, she graduated with a BFA in Fine Arts and a minor in French Studies.
She then worked as a full time nanny for an active family of four young children for two years. It was during this time that she decided to fuse her two loves of both art and children. She graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities with a Masters in K-12 Art Education in September 2014.
However, her love for travel never subsided and she decided to pick up her midwestern roots and move to Europe. For the 2014- 2015 school year Emmi lived just north of Lyon, France and taught as a Teaching Assistant for English in a Lycée. She continues her work as an artist and educator.
Emmi employs a variety of artistic techniques but is drawn to mixed media and collage work juxtaposing drawing, painting, text, and found objects. Her illustrations are influenced by her midwestern roots, nature, european travels, and extensive work with education and children. With her art, Emmi would like to accomplish inspiring a sense of joy from the viewer. She is inspired in the beauty that comes from imperfection and how objects change through time specifically through architecture and the landscape.
